Rome is my favorite European city to visit, so of course I had to include it in Suspicious, the fourth book in the On the Run International Mysteries. I always take tons of photos when I visit a new place because I know I’ll probably be writing about it later. I go back to the photos to help me remember small details (paved streets or cobblestones?) and to help me capture the atmosphere of the place.
The Spanish Steps are always bustling–mostly with tourists. The Spanish Steps get their name from the nearby Spanish Embassy. The fountain in the photo below is located at the base of the Spanish Steps. It’s called the Fontana della Barcaccia, or the the Fountain of the Boat, and was designed by Bernini–or possibly not, depending on which guide book you’re reading!
The Sallustiano obelisk is a Roman copy of an Egyptian obelisk.
The Campo di Fiori has a wonderful market and we went their in the morning to “assemble” our breakfast. We’d pick up fresh fruit then stop at a bakery for a croissant.
Market at Campo di Fiori with back of the statue of Giordano Bruno, a philosopher and mathematician, who was burned at the stake in the campo for heresy in 1600.
Read the book that features Rome: Suspicious, Book Four in the On the Run series of international mysteries.
